Ernestine Reuter was granted a permit to build a one-level diner at 201 F Street NE.
Construction was completed and cost about $2,000. The diner, named Reuter’s Diner, originally served “butter and eggs” to the Union Station travelers before food service was available on the trains.
Reuter’s Diner moved to a new location and the building was abandoned.
The building was neglected for nearly 25 years.
On 7 February 2002, National Community Church purchased 201 F Street NE.
The property was successfully rezoned from residential to commercial use.
Architectural plans were approved by DC’s Historic Preservation Review Board.
